Clayton Coppaway

Team Lead

Clayton Coppaway, CDT Lead is an Indigenous professional with over 15 years of experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations on a variety of community development programs and initiatives. A member of Curve Lake First Nation in Ontario, he has a Master of Science in Fisheries Ecology and currently resides with his family in Saint John New Brunswick. He is very knowledgeable with respect to Indigenous Nation governance and culture, Indigenous Knowledge and scientific modes of inquiry, community engagement and consultation. He is a skilled facilitator and an engagement and consultation specialist who enjoys working with Indigenous groups to develop and implement their strategic priorities and protect their rights and interests. Clayton is also experienced in developing and implementing environmental and Indigenous knowledge and western science focused environmental projects and programs. His experience includes working with community-based organizations, aquatic and fisheries focused academic and federal agencies, and First Nations governments to develop strategic plans, community engagement and consultation projects, aquatic monitoring and fisheries programs, impact assessment policy development, and Indigenous land, environment, and economic community planning.
